You're not stuck!
Ever find yourself looking back at an old version of you…
You catch yourself repeating old patterns, old thoughts, old habits—almost without thinking.
Not because they’re helpful.
But because they’re familiar.
And familiar feels safe—even when it’s slowly draining the life out of you.
I had one of those moments recently.
One of the journaling prompts in our 30 day challenge asked:
“What’s no longer serving me in this season of my life?”
And the answer was difficult to admit.
Looking back.
Over and over again.
Replaying the past like it holds all the answers.
But here's what I've come to realise…
Looking back just creates more of the same.
Same thoughts.
Same guilt.
Same stories.
And honestly? I’m so over that.
The version of me who used to cope with wine at the end of the day?
She got me through.
The version of me who played small to keep the peace?
She was just trying to feel safe.
The version of me who kept waiting until Monday / next month / once everything was perfect?
She meant well.
But I’m not her anymore.
And trying to squeeze myself back into those versions—out of guilt, nostalgia, or plain habit—only keeps me stuck.
This is what midlife transformation often looks like—not some grand reinvention, but quietly breaking free from old habits and deciding, this no longer fits.
Here’s what I’m learning instead:
If you want things to feel different, you have to think differently.
And that means looking forward—not back.
It takes imagination.
It takes self-trust.
It takes a quiet, deliberate choice to stop defining yourself by who you used to be—and start getting curious about who you might become.
This is the work so many of us start doing when we step away from alcohol—when we begin to untangle from grey area drinking, and realise the real freedom isn’t just about drinking less… it’s about living more.
Start here:
🔹 Notice what feels heavy.
What are you still doing, saying, thinking… just because you always have?
🔹 Let go.
You don’t have to fix it all at once. Just stop clinging so tight to what you’ve outgrown.
🔹 Try one small shift.
Not a reinvention. Not a big “ta-da.” Just one small move that feels like truth. Rest when you’d usually push through. Speak up instead of shrinking. Write something down instead of pouring a glass.
You’re not stuck.
You’ve just been reading back the same old chapter, hoping it might still fit.
But you’re allowed to write a new one.
Quietly. Boldly. Your way.
