Raise Your Baseline, And Break Free From Alcohol

April 05, 20252 min read

“If you don’t set a baseline standard for what you accept in life, you’ll find it’s easy to slip into behaviours and attitudes or a quality of life that’s far below what you deserve.” - Tony Robbins

This quote hits home when you're rethinking your relationship with alcohol.

You might start with a clear intention: I’ll only drink at the weekend. It feels like a reasonable boundary. But before long, the weekends are soaked in grogginess and regret, and you begin to re-evaluate.

You raise the bar. Only two glasses on a Saturday night, you tell yourself.

But even that doesn’t feel good anymore. You still wake up on Sunday feeling off—heavy, hazy, just not quite you. So you raise your baseline again.

You stop drinking altogether.

Because the truth is: it’s not worth it.
Your health matters more.
Your peace matters more.
You matter more.

But for many of us, the story doesn’t follow that neat upward arc.

Sometimes, we raise the bar… only to watch it quietly slide back down.

Those “just two glasses” become three. Then the bottle. Then Friday night sneaks back in. It’s familiar, comforting, easy to justify: My friends drink more than I do. At least I’m not that bad.

The baseline you set with intention begins to erode without you even noticing.

You’re not in crisis.

You’re functioning.

But you’re not really living either.

And that’s the danger of drifting.

We tolerate just enough to keep going… but not enough to feel alive.

The beauty of setting a personal baseline—a true, soul-aligned one—is that it comes from within. It’s not about rules or restrictions. It’s a quiet, powerful promise: I will no longer live below what I know I deserve.

Coaching helps you to look at the choices, behaviours, and stories that are keeping you below your baseline. You explore the excuses that feel protective but are really just keeping you stuck.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Reframe the thoughts that lead you to pour another glass

  • Reclaim your ability to choose differently, again and again

  • Recognise when your baseline is slipping—and lovingly bring it back up

  • And most importantly, honour the promises you make to yourself

Because freedom from alcohol isn’t just about stopping drinking.

It’s about stepping into the life you actually want to be living.
With clarity. With self-respect. With joy.

Are you ready to stop drifting below your baseline—and start rising into the life you deserve?
